With our small group of like-minded travellers this intimate experience offers a deep dive into embroidery, including a two-day class in Hong Kong and an optional activity in China as we explore a less-travelled route. We’ll have plenty of time to shop, sightsee, and immerse ourselves in the vibrant cultures of Hong Kong, Macau, and a more remote part of China, all while enjoying the luxury of personal exploration.
The tour includes a range of exciting activities, but there’s also ample time to enjoy your own pursuits if you wish.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Day 1: Overnight: 4 Star Hotel
Arrive Hong Kong 3 September staying in a well-appointed hotel with breakfast and great facilities, transfers can be arranged or meet us there. We can meet up for a drink and dinner at the hotel if we want. No meals included today
Day 2 - Day 2 Overnight: 4 star-hotel breakfast included
Start our 2-day class with a Chinese specialist embroiderer that Nicky has arranged to fly in from China to teach us. Head out for some local food or a cocktail and enjoy the city at night
Day 3 - Day 3: Overnight: 4 star-hotel breakfast included

Our days adventure starts with setting off by ferry to explore the town of Macau and Nicky will show us some interesting pieces she has worked on. Breakfast Included
Day 5 - Day 5: Overnight: 4 star-hotel breakfast included
Free day. You can explore the Stanley Markets and some of the many attractions in Hong Kong.
Day 6 - Day 6 Overnight: 4 star-hotel breakfast included
Free day. Hong Kong has so much to offer, you could start your day with a scenic ride on the Star Ferry, then head up to Victoria Peak for breathtaking city views. Explore Temple Street Night Market or visit the Big Buddha on Lantau Island. Stroll through Mong Kok’s street markets, including Ladies’ Market and Sneakers Street. Enjoy a traditional dim sum brunch at Tim Ho Wan or Maxim’s Palace.
Day 7 - Day 7 Hong Kong – Guiyang – Danzhai Overnight in Danzhai
Embark on a scenic journey from Hong Kong to Guiyang aboard a high-speed train (≈5 hours). Upon arrival, enjoy a comfortable transfer to Danzhai (≈2.5 hours). Spend the rest of the day at your leisure, exploring the charm of this picturesque town at your own pace. Dinner included: Accommodation 4*
Day 8 - Day 8: Danzhai – Kaili
Immerse yourself in the rich traditions of the Miao culture! Learn the art of embroidery from a cultural heritage master, then visit Shiqiao Miao Village, where you’ll discover the ancient craft of traditional papermaking. Continue to Qingman Miao Village, renowned for its exquisite cross-stitch embroidery. Optional Activities: Embroidery Class – $20 pp Paper-Making Class - $15 pp All meals included today Accommodation 4*
Day 9 - Day 9: Kaili - Langde - Kaili
Visit Kaili Market in the morning, then Langde Upper Miao Village in the afternoon (welcoming ceremony with twelve rounds of rice wine, song and dance performances). All meals included today Accommodation 4*
Day 10 - Day 10: Kaili - Fenghuang Ancient Town, Hunan
After breakfast, transfer to Fenghuang Ancient Town(3 hours by bus) named after the green mountains on its back resembling a phoenix spreading its wings to fly. The bluestone streets within the city, the wooden stilted houses by the river, and the beautiful Miao girls. All meals included today Accommodation 4*
Day 11 - Day 11: Fenghuang - Zhangjiajie
After breakfast, transfer to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (3 hours by bus), which is the first national forest park in China. Visit Jinbian Stream. Visit Yuanjiajie and take the Bailong Elevator up the hill. Visit Yangjiajie and Tianzi Mountain, take the cable car down the hill. All meals included today
Day 12 - Day 12: Zhangjiajie--Hong Kong
After breakfast, have half day free time. After lunch, take a high-speed train back to Hong Kong (6 hours and 30 minutes). This is a great time to stitch chat or relax as we head back to the big city. Breakfast and Lunch included today Accommodation 4* We can have an optional farewell dinner.
