Experiencing Vasco De Gamo in New Zealand
Vasco De Gamo a German cruise liner which I was very mindful about managing my expectations as I had not idea what to expect compared to my previous cruise experiences. No need to be mindful, the Germans are great fun and we had a blast!
This is a small ship around 800 passengers, we boarded in Wellington and stopped in Napier, Tauranga, The Bay of Island and a day at sea. I loved that we had plenty of time to explore the towns which is something that is important to me, while others are happy to stay aboard and relax.
You also have to pay for drinks or buy a package which works for some while others like all included something Viking Cruises is very good at.
There was a party festival with free-flowing beer and donuts to be had and dancing, something that seemed odd until you embraced it and then was great fun.
The weather was fabulous as so made our trip even more special.
Cruising into Art Deco
Napier our first stop was just picture perfect and we enjoyed a walk where we say the ship from above in our first photo. Art Deco town and really friendly people, Wade and I both helped the economy with a bit of shopping.
Food anyone?
Of course it would be rude not to share some food pics as the meals were delicious.
We also had a night to sample cuisine from around the world which was fun.
Sailing through the Bay of Plenty
As we made our way to Tauranga we cruised around White Island which was lovely, we also remembered all those who lost their lives so it was with mixed feelings to do this.
Mount Maunganui put on a beautiful day and what better way to spend that by climbing her.
Sailing away was also lovely…
And what about the entertainment
The entertainment and places to relax on the Vasco de Gamo were plenty full.
We were onboard for Valintines day which was also a fun experience.
Our last day we explored the Bay of Islands, so lovely to do from the water.
Check out the ship
Thanks Nicko Cruises for a wonderful experience, if you want to know what is the best cruise for your needs and budget, just ask as I there are so many to choose from that it can be a little overwhelming.
